South End Baseball (SEB):
Established in 1987 with 6 teams, 10 volunteer coaches, and 75 players, the SEB program has been building champions on and off the field. SEB is a 501c3 non-profit organization. The program currently services over 1,200 boys and girls from diverse neighborhoods throughout the City of Boston. Led by Owen Carlson, Founder and Paul Rinkulus, Executive Director, and a host of extraordinary dedicate volunteers, SEB is poised for exciting growth while establishing itself as a premier baseball and softball program throughout the city, state, and country.
SEB is committed to the personal, educational, and emotional development of our young people and coaches who participate in the program. Hundreds of volunteers serve as coaches, mentors, organizers, and local sponsors. Coaches donate not only their time and baseball knowledge, but also offer counseling, support, and tutoring to the players and their familes.
"Baseball and softball is a way to get out of the city but the South End Baseball is a way to have fun while in the city. There is nothing wrong with having fun in the city." - Owen Carlson, SEB Founder
SEB is the only free baseball and softball program in the city, it is proud to be able to guarantee no financial barriers for those who participate. In return, our players give back to the community by participating in community service projects and life skills training such as; conflict resolution and violence prevention. SEB is a team oriented positive program that keeps our young people engaged, committed, and competitive. This keeps them off the streets but on the baseball and softball fields throughout the City of Boston.
SEB annual operating budget of over 350K is entirely funded and supported by donations, sponsorship, and local support. The sponsorship and support allows us to provide each team and player with a complete uniform and the necessary equipment to play and improve their baseball skills.
